Casserole Recipes includes old fashioned Squash, Broccoli, Tuna Noodle, and two Green Bean Casseroles. They make dinners easy.
A main dish usually contains meat such as beef, chicken, turkey, or seafood. Often it contains tuna.
In addition to the meat it will most likely contain some vegetables and pasta and or some other thickening ingredient.
A side dish usually contains only vegetables along with a thickening agent.
Often
it contains cream soups such as Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom,
Cream of Celery, and various cheeses for flavor and thickening.
Some recipes instruct the preparer to partially cook some or all of the
fresh ingredients like vegetables or pastas prior to assembling the
casserole in a baking pan or dish.
This enables the cook to prepare the casserole and store it in the refrigerator or freezer to be popped in the oven the next evening for a quick and easy dinner within 30-40 minutes.
Make sure you are using a freezer safe dish if you intend to freeze it before cooking or after.
Not only are these dishes delicious, they make excellent pot luck dishes for family gatherings and church suppers.
They
are cooked in their own serving dish and then leftovers are stored in
the refrigerator or freezer in the same dish. Clean-up is a breeze. One
dish to wash!
