This Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookie Recipe also known as Cowboy Cookies makes great children's snakes because of the nutrients in the oatmeal and raisins. They contain protein, iron, potassium, and other nutrients.
I received this recipe in the early 1060s from a co-worker.
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
2 cups oatmeal (not instant)
1/2 cup raisins
Sift together flour, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and soda. Set aside. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Fold in flour and oatmeal. Fold in raisins.
Place 1 tablespoonful of dough onto an ungreased cookie baking sheet approximately 2 inches apart. Bake in a pre-heated oven 350F. for approximately 12 minutes. Remove from pan immediately to cool. Makes 12 dozen.
Fill your cookie jar. These cookies improve with age!
