It and the Mississippi Mud Pie are very delicious.
Cream together the butter, sugar and coca in a stand mixing bowl.
Add the eggs in, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift together the all-purpose flour and the baking power. Fold it into the baking mixture.
Then fold in the grated coconut followed with the pecans.
Pour into a 9" by 12" baking sheet pan that has been greased and dusted with the flour.
Bake until the cake tests done when probed in the center with a fork.
Remove the cake from the oven and while it is still hot smooth the Marshmallow Cream on top, evenly.
Let the cake cool completely, then prepare the Chocolate Frosting.
In an electric mixer combine the softened butter, unsweetened cocoa, vanilla extract, powdered sugar and the evaporated milk.
Beat on high speed until light and fluffy.
Remove from the mixer and spread the frosting on the cooled cake.
In a 9 inch pie plate mix the graham cracker crumbs and butter and the mixture on the bottom and around the sides, forming a pie crust.
Bake the crust in a 350F. oven 7 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let it cool, then chill.
Then pack the ice cream into the chilled crust smoothing the surface.
Freeze until firm.
Freezing before adding the fudge sauce is essential to keeping the Fudge Sauce from sliding off.
Top the pie with the Mississippi Mud Pie Fudge Sauce.
Place the pie back into the freezer to harden for a couple of more hours.
Leave the pie in the freezer until you are ready to serve it.
To serve this amazing Mississippi Mud Pie, remove the pie from the freezer and top the cut slices with a dollop of the Homemade Whipped Cream and a sprinkling of the toasted almond slices.
Store the remaining pie back into the freezer to keep the rest of the ice cream from melting.
In a saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter.
Remove from heat and stir in the milk and powdered sugar.
Put back on the stove on medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the mixture is thick and creamy.
It takes about 7 or 8 minutes.
Remove the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Store in the refrigerator and use as it needed.
It makes about three cups of Mississippi Mud Pie Chocolate Sauce.
The Mississippi Mud Cake is an old fashioned recipe that originated in the state of Mississippi and was named Mississippi Mud Cake because people said they thought the cake looked like the mud that was all over their riverbanks.
The Mississippi Mud Cake Recipe first appeared in an American newspaper cooking column as so many of our original, great cooking recipes appear in various home magazines, today.
However, the recipe for a Mud Pie Recipe first surfaced in Long Beach, California and not in the state of Mississippi as most people, including me, have believed.
The early Mud Pies were frozen and thawed out before serving.
Those early recipes added a homemade Chocolate Sauce and was topped with small marshmallows and or Homemade Whipped Cream.
