Vigorous beating can cause the starch granules to bread down and the pudding will start to get thin again.

History OF Puddings

Tracing the history of puddings, we find so many foods that were called pudding.

There was at least a dozen of them and I think many more.

I grew up in the late 1940s and beyond eating a food everyone I knew, called liver pudding and the company who made it called it a sausage, printed on the label.

The dessert we call pudding today originated in the 1730s.

Boxed powdered puddings mixes were developed in England by Andrew Bird.

He created a dry mix that used cornstarch for the pudding thickener instead of eggs.

The United States Of America caught on and started a boxed pudding mix, labeled My-T-Fine Pudding Mix in 1918.

I prefer homemade puddings over boxed puddings mixes because of the full natural taste.
